Did you know?

  • Midwifery appointments are 30-60 minutes long to make sure that everything is covered and your fears and questions are addressed

  • Midwifery is legal in Florida and most insurance cover out-of-hospital birth with pre authorization

  • Most midwives have back up OB care so that in case of emergency they work with them for your best outcome

  • Your midwife will do all the birth certificate filing that you need to do

  • There is nothing you need to do for clean up. The midwife and her assistant make sure that they take care of all of it for you

  • Homebirth midwives in Florida have gone to school for the specialty and are fully trained to handle emergent situations

  • They carry all the equipment they need to make sure you and the baby are safe

  • They manage labor by taking fetal heart tones, blood pressure, your temperature  etc to make sure you and baby stay safe

  • Out-of-hospital birth is an option for anyone who is low risk and is safer than delivering in the hospital

  • You have the freedom to choose how, where you deliver your baby. Water birth is very welcome

  • The midwife does baby care/exams after baby is born to make sure all is well. Your visits are in home after so you can enjoy the comfort of your own home

  • In many countries women choose home birth with midwife. Canada, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand.

Out-of-hospital birth may be an option for you if you are low risk and want to:

  • Avoid interventions

  • Have more one on one interaction with your care provider

  • Want to avoid pain medications and epidurals

  • Want to have the freedom to move around without pressures

  • Have a more intimate setting with those you want to support you

  • Have a more peaceful, calm setting to welcome the baby into the world.
